The criterion is qualifying as a true "rags to riches" American success story. Mr. Giles is a 1994 award winner and joined the ranks of some of America's greatest contributors. In the history of the Association at the time of his induction, he has the distinction of being the third youngest person to have received this special honor.
1998 - Distinguished Alumnus Award - California State University Fullerton (At the time of Mr. Giles' induction in April, 1998 only 39 awards have been presented out of over 120,000 graduates).
2006 - Outstanding Business Leaders Award—Sponsored by Northwood University in Palm Beach Florida, the award is given to eight American business leaders each year.
2008 - American Trial Lawyer of the Year Finalist—Sponsored by Public Justice, Mr. Giles finished second for his work in the Catholic predator priest abuse cases in 2008.

Beginning in 1975, Mr. Giles founded and built his law firm in California. He has successfully handled a number of civil and criminal cases throughout California, twenty-one different States, and three different countries. Mr. Giles’ law partner is his wife, Kalli O’Malley. A recruited associate of the prestigious firm of Andrews and Kurth and a former attorney in the Houston prosecutor’s office, Mrs. O’Malley is a seasoned trial lawyer. She and Mr. Giles met while opposing each other in a high publicity trial in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Giles has had 150 jury trials to verdict in the criminal and civil arena. Mr. Giles completed complex litigation against the Catholic Church in California regarding child abuse and is now retired from the courtroom and consults on only a few personally selected cases.
In addition to Mr. Giles’ experience as a trial lawyer, he has served in a Trustee capacity for a number of families dealing with difficult business issues. Mr. Giles has a team of experienced business and forensic accounting experts who assist him in these complex matters. For example, Mr. Giles completed an engagement regarding asset identification and protection surrounding one of the key individuals in the Enron prosecution and has accepted the Georgia Superior Court appointment as “Custodian” for the estate of Martin Luther King and the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

MEDICAL DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
This enterprise develops technology centered on Revenue Cycle Management. A subsidiary of MDT has developed the MD Coder, a capture billing device now in use by over 2,000 physicians. Primary offices are located in Houston, Texas and Orange County, California.
GREAT ESCAPES
This entity was developed by Mr. Giles to deliver to its clientele luxury accommodations in key areas of the world. Villas and hotels, inclusive of restaurants, include Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Mallorca, Spain, and Eze, France. The restaurant at Chateau Eza on the Mediterranean in the medieval village of Eze was selected by Conde Nast in December, 2013 as the most romantic hotel and restaurant in Europe. Additionally, Conde Nast Magazine and Travel and Leisure Magazine have rated Chateau Eza as one of the top 10 hotels in Europe and one of the top 100 hotels in the world.
